There were countless of times that I was on the brink of giving up my dreams because of exhaustion and hopelessness.
I’d just wanna be an unemployed mom, make babies, keep the house, cook for my husband, and watch netflix all day (no offense meant to women who chose this path. This just isn’t my kind of success. In case this is your success, you’re amazing! Remember, you give meaning to your success. Plus, the world needs great moms who will take care of amazing children who will turn out to be great adults for the world. I love you and I appreciate you!)
I remember, when I was 18, I would dream of traveling a lot and I would make every travel plans I had happen.
I remember REALLY making them happen. I remember having this great amount of energy to execute what I needed to do to achieve something, and I’d be able to pull it off.
But as my dreams get bigger, things get far more difficult than I expected. Because I was aiming for bigger goals, from time to time, I was making quantum leaps to align my energy to the energy of my dreams.
Taking those leaps meant that I’d experience breakdowns every once in a while for me to learn certain lessons that will help me uplevel my mindset and my manifesting game.
And we both know that breakdowns are freaking hard. They are emotionally and mentally draining and they make you want to give up everything. They make you question why the fuck you’re even pursuing this goal in the first place, and if the struggles are even worth it.
So what do you do when you’re struggling to stay in the game? What would you do to keep persevering for your dreams? Here’s a list of the things that I would do when I’m in the brink of giving up:
Take a freaking break.
If you’re burnt out from pursuing your goals, you gotta take a break. That’s obvious right? But a lot of people won’t even consider this, and they’d choose to give up instead.
Back when I was pursuing 3 businesses at once (ikr? freaking #ADD 😛 ), I was always exhausted because I wasn’t seeing results while I was working my ass off every single day. When you’re burning out and not being rewarded, you could lose your drive and passion and you become this tired and stressed person.
We both know that you cannot do inspired work when you’re miserable and exhausted.
You gotta take a break for three purposes: to rest, to re-align and to rekindle your fire. Take this time off to remind yourself why you even started, and give yourself that fuel. Going on roadtrips and being with nature works for me a hundred percent. It might be different for you. Figure out what brings back your enthusiasm and spend an entire week (or however long you need) just fueling up. Also, don’t be like me. Don’t run 3 businesses at once – especially when they’re all just starting. 😛
Also, be aware that this could just be a challenge that you have to get through to make a huge leap.
Breakdowns happen to teach you a lesson. Pain is a messenger that’s telling you that something needs to change and that there’s something you have to deal with. This is the perfect time to reflect on what’s really happening, and what the universe is trying to teach you.
As for me, the message was clear: DON’T KILL YOURSELF BY RUNNING 3 STARTING BUSINESSES AT ONCE. 😛
Let go of need.
Neediness is a block in your chest that you need to let go of. When you are needing something, you cannot exercise your full power, and when you cannot work on your full potential, you won’t be able to give your all.
I remember feeling demotivated because I feel like I only do my dreams to fulfill my needs. It fulfills my need to help the world as soon as I can. It fulfills my need to travel. It fulfills my need for my family’s approval so they can be proud of me. It fulfills my need to feel good about myself and to feel validated in this society. I mean, having some of these needs are not bad, but if I work in a space of need, I feel powerlessness in my energy. That ain’t good.
When manifesting, it’s important to be in that space of calmness and non-attachment because you know you’ll get it. When you need something, you are in a vibration of not having it. Neediness removes you in alignment.
Instead of making your needs your motivation, think about the good things that will happen once you succeed in achieving your goals. Think about the people that you will affect positively. Think about how your mission can change the world in divine timing.
Remember, you are a soul being. Your needs are only your ego’s needs. Let them go. Trust in the divine timing.
Declutter.
Maybe you’re burning out because you have so much going on in your plate. Make sure that you only bite what you can chew. You only have very limited energy to use. Use it wisely.
Take time to review your priorities, and make better adjustments so you can make things work better for you.
Take things slower.
Rushing might look like a very reasonable thing to do, but slow and steady always wins the game. Rushing will cause you to burnout and it will make you become ineffective, demotivated and demoralized.
Ask yourself, “Why am I in such a rush?” And you’ll find out what the real problem is.
Reflect on what’s making you miserable.
What are really the things that are making you miserable? Maybe it’s your impatience because you feel like you’re missing out in life while your friends are living the life you want. Maybe your work is all over the place and it’s causing you stress. Maybe you’re working with a scarcity mindset. Maybe you’re impatient and want things to manifest yesterday. Maybe you’re ungrateful. Maybe you’re focusing on what you’re not accomplishing instead of your progress. Figure out the issue and work on it.
Get clearer on what you really want.
Sometimes we feel misaligned because we’re going towards the wrong direction. Take this time to reflect on what’s really happening. Maybe there is something that you need to re-adjust – maybe a new goal, a better system of doing things, a better mindset and other things.
But if you feel like you’re sure that you wanna give up, ask the universe for guidance. She will tell you what to do. If you’re really meant to quit, know that it’s not the end of your story. Maybe this is just a step that you have to make that will lead you towards what you really want. Either way, the universe always has your back.
